Windows sucks! Big time! I feel sorry to say that despite learning computers and related technologies, 90% of the computer science engineering students in India or esp. this part of the nation, are still scared of trying their hands on some good open source operating systems like Linux, Open Solaris, BSD, etc.
Anyhow, that’s entirely one’s own choice!
But I’ve got a news for all my friends and dear ones who are happy to stick around with Bill gates! I’m sure most of the college guys use their pen drives/ USB hard drives, etc. to transfer movies, videos, etc. across different PCs running on MS Windows. A common problem they face is of viruses which travels fast and easy. One of them is the amvo or apvo virus which has symptoms of creating an “autorun.exe” for drives and disabling “view hidden files and folders option”. It also slows down the copying rate to and from USB drives.
I’ve seen people formatting their OS, using the restoration disk, downloading antivirus softwares and then their cracks over websites!
But now, there is no such silly TO-DOs!

Direct to Home Satellite Television என்பதுதான் DTH சேவை என்று அழகாக ஆங்கில எழுத்துகளில் சுருக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. தமிழில் இதனை ‘நேரடி துணைக்கோள் வழித் தொலைக்காட்சி’ என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.


இதற்கு முந்தைய கேபிள் (வடம்) வழித் தொலைக்காட்சிச் சேவையில், நமக்கு சேவை வழங்குபவர், பெரிய குவி ஆண்டெனாக்கள்மூலம் சிக்னல்களைப் பெற்று, பல சானல்களை சேர்த்து, கேபிள்மூலம் நம் வீடுகளுக்கு அனுப்பினார். நேரடி துணைக்கோள் சேவையில் நம் வீட்டிலேயே சிறிய குவி ஆண்டெனா இருக்கும். இதன் விட்டம் ஒரு மீட்டருக்குக் குறைவானதாகவே இருக்கும்.

இந்தச் சேவையை வழங்கும் நிறுவனம் ஓர் இணைச்சுற்று செயற்கைக்கோள் (Geo-stationary Satellite) வழியாக சிக்னல்களை அனுப்பும். இந்த சிக்னல்களை நம் வீட்டில் உள்ள சிறிய ஆண்டெனா பெற்று, தொலைக்காட்சிப் பெட்டியுடன் இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள செட்-டாப் பாக்ஸ் என்று சொல்லப்படும் கருவிக்கு அனுப்பும்.

இந்த நேரடித் துணைக்கோள் சேவையில் பல வசதி வாய்ப்புகள் விரைவில் கிடைக்கும். (இவற்றில் பல, பிற நாடுகளில் ஏற்கெனவே கிடைக்ககூடியவைதான்.)

1. நேரடித் துணைக்கோள் சேவை வழியாக பிராட்பேண்ட் இணைய இணைப்பைத் தரலாம்.

2. நல்ல இருவழிப் பாதை கிடைப்பதால், வீட்டில் இருந்தபடியே பொருள்களை வாங்குதல், டிக்கெட் பதிவுசெய்தல் போன்றவற்றை கம்ப்யூட்டர் உதவி நாடாமல், தொலைக்காட்சி கொண்டே செய்யமுடியும்.

3. மழை பெய்து, கேபிள் அறுந்து படம் தெரியாமல் கழுத்தை அறுக்காது. நமக்கு கேபிள் சேவை அளிப்பவரது அலுவலகத்தில் மின்சாரம் போய் நம்மை பாதிப்பது நடக்காது. வீடு மாற்றும்போது இந்தியா முழுமைக்கும் கையோடு கொண்டுபோகலாம்.

4. Narrow-casting, Personal-casting போன்றவற்றை அறிமுகப்படுத்தலாம். மிகச்சில வீடுகள் மட்டுமே பெற விரும்பும் சில சானல்களை இந்த மேடையின்வழியாக அறிமுகப்படுத்தமுடியும். இதனைக் கொண்டு பல புதுமையான சேவைகளைப் புகுத்தமுடியும்.
(அ) உதாரணத்துக்கு pay-per-view என்ற வழியில், புது சினிமாப் படங்களை, படம் வந்த ஓரிரு மாதங்களுக்குள்ளாக, ரூ. 100 அல்லது அதற்கு அதிகம் என்ற கட்டணத்தில் காண்பிக்கமுடியும்.
(ஆ) பிரீமியம் கட்டணத்தில் ஒரு சானலில் 10-ம் வகுப்பு, 12-ம் வகுப்பு, ஐஐடி கோச்சிங் போன்றவற்றைச் சொல்லித்தரமுடியும்.

5. பிராட்பேண்ட் சானலுக்கு அதிக அகலத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டால், முழுக்க முழுக்க ஸ்ட்ரீமிங் வழியிலான ஒளியோடைகளைத் தரமுடியும்.

6. மேலே சொன்ன அனைத்துக்குமான கட்டணங்களை செட்-டாப் பாக்ஸில் உள்ள ஒரு கடனட்டை வருடியின் வழியாகவே கட்டிவிடலாம்.

7. ஒரு சானலில் ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சி நடக்கும்போது அந்த நிகழ்ச்சி தொடர்பான அனைத்து விவரங்களையும் எழுத்து வடிவில் படிக்க, சேவை வழங்குனர்கள் வசதிகளை ஏற்படுத்தித்தரமுடியும். ஒரு கிரிக்கெட் மேட்சின்போது, ஸ்கோர்கார்டை நாம் விரும்பும்போதெல்லாம் பார்க்கமுடியும். வீடியோ சாளரத்தைச் சிறிதாக்கி எழுத்துகளைப் படித்துவிட்டு, மீண்டும் வீடியோவைப் பெரிதாக்கிக்கொள்ளலாம். இதேபோல சினிமாப் பாடல் ஒன்று ஓடும்போது, அதன் வரிகளை கீழே நாமே பார்க்குமாறு செய்துகொள்ளலாம். இவை அனைத்துக்கும் தேவையான ‘கண்டெண்ட்’ சேவை வழங்குனரால் கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும்.

காந்தியின் ஆன்மிகம் இன்னதுதான் என்று விளக்கிச் சொல்லும் திறன் எனக்கு இப்போது இல்லை.

உடலைத் தூய்மையாக வைத்திருப்பது என்றால் குடலைத் தூய்மையாக வைத்திருப்பது. உணவுப் பழக்க வழக்கங்களில் காந்தி நிறைய மாற்றங்கள் செய்துபார்த்தார். எளிதாக மலம் கழிக்க ஏதுவான உணவுகளாக பல சோதனைகளைச் செய்திருக்கிறார். அதேபோல் குடலைத் தூய்மையாக வைத்திருக்க அவ்வப்போது உப்பு நீர் எனிமா கொடுத்துக்கொள்வது அவரது வழக்கம். அத்துடன் தனக்குப் பிடித்தமானவர்களுக்கு எனிமா கொடுப்பது காந்தியின் பழக்கம் என்று லூயி ஃபிஷர் எழுதுகிறார். காந்தியிடம் எனிமா பெறுவது என்றால் அவரிடம் தீட்சை வாங்குவதற்கு சமம்.

குடல் தூய்மை போல, மன மலத்தைத் துடைப்பதும் காந்திக்குப் பெரும் சவாலாக இருந்திருக்கிறது. காந்தியைப் பொருத்தமட்டில் அவர் எளிதாக பொய் பேசுவதை வென்றுவிட்டார். காசு, பணம், நகை மீதான ஆசைகளையும் அவர் எளிதாக வென்றுவிட்டார். தன் சொத்து அத்தனையும் தன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கோ மனைவிக்கோ கிடையாது என்று ஆசிரமத்துக்கு எழுதிவைக்கும் மனோபாவம் அவருக்கு இருந்தது. கஸ்தூர்பாவுடன் பண விஷயத்தில் பலமுறை சண்டை வந்திருக்கிறது. தனக்குக் கிடைத்த பரிசுகளையும் தன் குடும்பம் பயன்படுத்தக்கூடாது என்பதில் காந்தி உறுதியாக இருந்தார். சொத்தின் மீது ஆசையில்லை. பொய் சொல்வதில்லை. பிறர் கெடவேண்டும் என்று நினைப்பதில்லை. அப்படியானால் இவரிடம் வேறென்ன கெட்ட பழக்கங்கள் இருக்கக்கூடும்?

தன் மனைவியுடன் உறவு கொண்டிருக்கும் நேரத்தில் தனது தந்தை உயிர் பிரிந்தது காந்தியின் மனத்தை வாட்டிக்கொண்டே இருந்தது. ஆனால் அப்போது காந்தி மகாத்மா ஆகியிருக்கவில்லை. சாதாரணர்தான். பின்னர் காந்தி பாரிஸ்டர் படிப்புக்கு இங்கிலாந்து சென்றபோது அங்குள்ள ஆங்கிலேயப் பெண்களிடம் பழகும் வாய்ப்பு அவருக்கு இருந்தது. யாரிடமும் தான் ஏற்கெனவே மணமானவன் என்ற விஷயத்தை அவர் சொல்லவில்லை. ஓரிரு முறை சில பெண்களிடம் நெருக்கமாக இருந்திருக்கும் வேளையில் அதிலிருந்து “தப்பித்து” விட்டதாக எழுதியிருக்கிறார். மேலும் அவர் தனது தாய்க்கு சத்தியம் செய்து கொடுத்திருந்தார். பிற பெண்களைப் பார்க்கமாட்டேன் என்று.

காந்திக்கு செயல் வேறு, மனம் வேறு என்றில்லை. செயலால் அவர் பாலுணர்ச்சி இல்லாதவராக இருந்தாலும் அவரது மனம் அலைபாய்ந்துள்ளது. பல பெண்கள் அவரால் கவரப்பட்டனர். அவரும் சில பெண்களால் கவரப்பட்டிருக்கலாம். ஆனால் தென்னாப்பிரிக்காவில் அவர் இருந்த காலகட்டத்தில் போராட்டமே குறியாக இருந்ததால் அவர் மனம் வேறு பக்கம் சாயவில்லை.

இந்தியா வந்தபின் காந்திக்கு மெடலைன் ஸ்லேட் என்ற பெண் (மீரா என்று தன் பெயரை மாற்றிக்கொண்டவர்) சீடராக வாய்த்தார். ஸ்லேடுடனான உறவு மிகவும் சிக்கலானது. காந்தியின் ஆஸ்ரமத்தில் பல பெண்கள் தங்கியிருந்தனர். நான்கு குழந்தைகள் பெற்ற, 50 வயதுக்கும் மேலான காந்தி உடலுறவற்ற நிலையை மணமான, மணமாகாத இளம் பெண்களிடமும் பரப்பியவண்ணம் இருந்தார். அப்படிப்பட்ட ஒரு சத்தியப் பிரமாணத்தைத்தான் ஜெயபிரகாஷ் நாராயணின் மனைவி பிரபாவதியும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டார். மேலும் பலரையும் காந்தி நேரடியாக இல்லாவிட்டாலும் மறைமுகமாக வற்புறுத்தினார்.

இதற்கிடையில் காந்தி வங்காளத்தைச் சேர்ந்த தாகூரின் உறவுக்காரப் பெண்ணான சரளாதேவி சவுதராணி என்ற பெண்மீது மையல் கொண்டார். இந்தப் பெண், பஞ்சாபைச் சேர்ந்த ராம்புஜ் சவுதுரி என்பவரைத் திருமணம் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தார். ரவுலட் சட்டத்தை எதிர்த்து, ஜாலியன் வாலா பாக் படுகொலைகளை எதிர்த்துப் போராடிய பலர் சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டபோது ராம்புஜ்ஜும் சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தார்.

காந்தி பஞ்சாப் சென்றபோது சரளாதேவியின் வீட்டில் தங்கினார். அங்கு அவர் இருந்த காலத்தில் சரளாதேவியுடனான உறவு நெருக்கமானது. சரளாதேவியைத் திருமணம் செய்வது என்ற முடிவுக்கு வந்தார். ஆனால் அந்தத் திருமணம் “உடல் அள்விலானதல்ல, தூய்மையான மன அளவிலானது” என்பது காந்தியின் கருத்து. ஆனால் ராஜாஜி, காந்தியின் மகன் தேவதாஸ் காந்தி முதற்கொண்டு பலரும் இதனைக் கடுமையாக எதிர்த்தனர். இதனால் சுதந்தரப் போராட்டத்துக்குப் பின்னடைவு ஏற்படும் என்பது இவர்களது கருத்து.

இந்தக் காலகட்டத்தில் கஸ்தூர்பா என்ன நினைத்தார் என்பது பற்றிய தகவல்கள் இல்லை. கடைசியாக காந்தி, சரளாதேவியை மணக்க இயலாது என்று கடிதம் எழுதினார். அன்றிலிருந்து சரளாதேவி காந்தியை எதிர்க்க, வெறுக்க ஆரம்பித்தார். காந்தி அதற்குப்பின் சரளாதேவி பற்றி எங்குமே எழுதவில்லை.

காந்தி உண்ணாவிரதத்தை ஓர் ஆயுதமாக ஆக்கியது இதற்குப் பிறகுதான். உண்ணாவிரதத்தை தன் உடலைத் தூய்மை செய்யும் ஒரு கருவியாகவே காந்தி பார்த்தார். ஆனால் மனத்தைத் தூய்மை செய்யும் கருவி என்னவாக இருக்கும் என்று அவர் தேடியுள்ளார்.

தந்த்ரா முறையில் வழிபடுபவர்களுக்கு “கருவி” ஒன்று தேவை. அந்தக் கருவி, ஓர் இளம் கன்னிப் பெண். அந்தக் கன்னிப் பெண்ணின் மூலமாக மனத்தை ஒருநிலைப்படுத்தி தியானம் செய்வது. அதன் ஒரு நோக்கம் முற்றிலும் ஆடையில்லாத ஓர் இளம்பெண்ணைப் பார்க்கும்போதும் ஒருவர் மனத்தில் எந்தவித கிளர்ச்சியும் வராதிருப்பது.

காந்தி உடல் அளவில் பிற பெண்களுடனும் தன் மனைவியுடனும் உறவு கொள்ளாவிட்டாலும், மனத்தளவில் தனக்கு அந்தக் கட்டுப்பாடு இருக்கிறதா என்று சோதிக்க விரும்பினார். அதனால் ஆஸ்ரமத்தில் தன்னைச் சுற்றி பல பெண்களை வைத்திருந்தார். அவர்களுடன் நிறையப் பேசினார். பழகினார். அவர்களைத் தனது சகோதரிகள் என்றும் தான் அவர்களுக்குத் தாய்போல என்றும் சொன்னார்.

“மோகன்தாஸ்” புத்தகத்தில் ராஜ்மோகன் காந்தி, மோகன்தாஸ் காந்திக்கு ஒருவித நரம்பு நோய் இருந்தது என்று குறிப்பிடுகிறார். மிகவும் அழுத்தம் அதிகமான கட்டங்களில் காந்தியின் உடல் தாங்கமுடியாமல் நடுங்க ஆரம்பிக்கும். அப்போது அவர் யாரையாவது அணைத்தவாறு படுத்திருப்பார். இவ்வாறு அவர் அணைத்துக்கொண்டு படுத்தது ஆஸ்ரமத்தில் இருந்த பெண்களில் ஒரு சிலரை. ஆனால் இது வெளிப்படையாக அனைவரும் பார்க்கும் வண்ணம் இருக்கும். கஸ்தூர்பாவும் அதே ஆஸ்ரமத்தில்தான் அப்போது இருந்தார். ஆனால் இதெல்லாம் ஒன்றுமே இல்லை என்பதுபோல், காந்தி அடுத்தகட்டப் பரிசோதனைக்குச் சென்றார். தனது பேத்தியான 18 வயது மனுவுடன் ஆடையின்றி சேர்ந்து படுத்துக்கொண்டு தனது ‘மனத் தூய்மையை' நிலை நாட்டப் பார்த்தார். மனுவிடம் காந்தி தொடர்ச்சியாக பிரம்மச்சரியத்தைப் பற்றிப் பேசிவந்திருக்கிறார். கடிதத்தில் எழுதியபடி இருந்திருக்கிறார். இந்த சோதனை காந்தி நவகாளியில் இந்து-முஸ்லிம் ஒற்றுமைக்காகப் போராடும் கட்டத்தில், காந்தியின் 77வது வயதில், நடந்தது.

தனது மனம் பாலுணர்ச்சியின்றித் தூய்மையாக இருந்தால் தன்னால் இந்து-முஸ்லிம் ஒற்றுமையைக் கொண்டுவரமுடியும் என்று காந்தி நம்பினார் என்றே தோன்றுகிறது.

சுற்றிலும் வன்முறை நடக்கும்போது தன்னைத்தான் காந்தி நொந்துகொண்டார்.

இன்று காந்தியைப் பற்றிப் படிக்கும்போது இந்த விஷயங்கள் மிகவும் நெருடுகின்றன. அன்றே நேரு முதல் பிற அனைவருக்கும் இது நெருடலாகவே இருந்தது. “கருவி”களாகப் பயன்பட்ட பெண்களின் நிலையைப் பற்றி காந்தி நினைத்துப் பார்த்தாரா என்பது தெளிவாக விளங்கவில்லை.

காந்தி தன்னைச் சுற்றி இருந்த பெண்களின் வாழ்க்கையில் நிறையவே குறுக்கிட்டார். ஒரு கட்டத்தில் மெடலைன் ஸ்லேட் காந்தியிடம் சண்டை போட்டுக்கொண்டுதான் வெளியேறிப் போனார். அதிலும் ஸ்லேடின் மண ஆசை குறுக்கிட்டது. ஸ்லேட், பிருத்விராஜ் சிங் என்ற இந்திய தேசியப் படையில் சிப்பாயாக இருந்து அஹிம்சை வழிக்கு மாறிய ஒருவரை மணம் செய்ய விரும்பினார். காந்தி இதனை ஏற்கவில்லை. பின்னர் பிருத்விராஜும் தனக்கு ஸ்லேட்மீது காதல் இல்லை என்று சொல்லிவிட்டார்.

காந்தி, ஒரு பக்கம் தன் பேத்தி மனு பிரம்மச்சரியத்தைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கவேண்டும் என்று விரும்பினார். அதே நேரம் காந்தி, தன் உதவியாளர் பியாரேலாலும் மனுவும் மணந்துகொள்ளவேண்டும் என்றும் விரும்பினார். கடைசியில் இந்தத் திருமணமும் நடக்கவில்லை.

கடந்த ஒரு வாரமாக என்னால் பதிவுகள் எழுத முடியவில்லை. அதற்காக மன்னிக்கவும். ஏன் எழுத முடியவில்லை என்றால் செவ்வாய்கிழமை பெங்களுர் செல்ல வேண்டியிருந்தது போய் வர இரண்டு நாட்கள் ஆனதால் பதிவுகள் எழுத முடியவில்லை. நான் முதன் முறையாக பெங்களுர் சென்றிருந்ததால் சிறிய பயம் இருந்தது காரணம் கன்னட மொழி தெரியாததுதான். ஆனால் அங்கு பலரும் நல்ல தமிழ் பேசுகின்றனர். பெங்களுரில் இருந்து திரும்பி வந்தால் இங்கு நான் வழக்கமாக செல்லும் ஏகப்பட்ட அலுவலகங்களில் கணினி பிரச்சினை எங்கு பார்த்தாலும் வைரஸ் அது என்ன வைரஸ் என்று கண்டுபிடிக்கமுடியவில்லை. ஒன்று ஒரு போல்டர் சக்தி என்று வைத்து கொண்டால் அந்த போல்டருக்குள் தானாகவே சக்தி என்று ஒரு போல்டர் உருவாகிறது ஆனால் அது அப்ளிகேஷன் என்று காட்டுகிறது. என்ன செய்வது என்று புரியவில்லை. யாரது உதவினால் நன்றாக இருக்கும். என்னுடைய யுஎஸ்பி ட்ரைவிலும் பரவி இருக்கிறது.
